ESG in Financial Institutions: Practical Experience and New Regulatory Challenges

ESG in Financial Institutions: Practical Experience and New Regulatory Challenges

The seminar ESG in Financial Institutions: Practical Experience and New Regulatory Challenges is organized as an open seminar for employees from different institutions and also as an in-house seminar organized for employees of clients with tailor made requirements.

Objectives of the seminar

The first part of the seminar introduces participants to ESG risk management and related regulatory requirements, as well as the European EU Taxonomy framework, which serves as a starting point for identifying “green” activities or investments. This part also focuses on ESG data and on addressing issues related to their collection, quality, or unavailability; it further presents the principles of GHG emissions measurement and the EU Green Bond Standard.

The second part of the seminar provides participants with a comprehensive overview of requirements related to clients’ sustainability preferences (SFDR), requirements for transition plans and stress testing (including the new EBA Guidelines on environmental scenario analysis). The seminar also addresses the topic of greenwashing and provides an overview of regulation in the areas of remuneration, reporting, and disclosure of ESG-related information. Examples from banking practice then illustrate possible approaches to coping with the regulatory onslaught.

For whom it is intended

The seminar is intended for specialists from financial institutions involved in ESG risk management, the development of sustainable products, ESG reporting, or ESG audit within financial institutions, but it may also be beneficial for ESG professionals from corporate companies. Although the seminar is primarily intended for specialists who have been dealing with ESG topics for some time, it also provides useful guidance for those who are only beginning to familiarize themselves with ESG issues.
